Fairy Tales

Abby was fishing around in her desk drawer last week and happened upon a letter our daughter Izzy wrote some time ago … I’m guessing she composed it somewhere around the age of  six or whenever a kid learns to construct semi decipherable sentences from words unknown in the English speaking world.   After some consultation I believe we have cracked the code on the note …  although I have to confess I got lost after the words “Wate cind” …  thinking she was channeling her Gaelic ancestors…

Her message reads as follows…….

Dear Fary
Can you met me at the fary house after lunch? Yes or No___________  (I like multiple choice option here)

Wate cind of fary are you … Water, Anamel, Flower or Tooth
_______________
(I’m not sure why the fairy type matters here …but it begs the question don’t you think?)  I favor the tooth type myself… Who else can turn a loss into a gain overnight?

Can you give me some wings?
 Yes or No________________________
(This is a great question to ask a fairy…especially since the next question hinges on a Yes). Unless she means the Buffalo type of course…

Can you teth me how to fliy ?  _____________________
(Again if the previous question is a No…  then this backs a fairy into a corner ..which is
something I’d never do to an Anamel fairy). Just sayin…

Wen were you bone ________________________________
(looks like the questioning is taking a turn here…  not sure where this line is taking her)

Wut IS your Name _______________________________________
(I like this question…I try to always ask a waitresses before I order… I think it makes the experience more personal.  besides no one wants their daughter roaming through the State Park yelling …Hey Fairy)

In the heart of every little girl lives a belief that fairies and wishes are real.  Although I’ve never seen one personally I’m hard pressed to explain away the magical transformation I’ve seen in her since the writing of this letter.  Izzy has grown to a girl who has found her wings…She’ll soon be using then to take flight towards her dreams and a life full of fairy tales…
